Often there are some questions and or concerns about some of the special efx that we use in our program. Scream N
Shout "Kidz With Character" utilizes three main effects in the assembly.
1. SMOKE RING GENERATOR - This is a device that we constructed that is filled with smoke and when
tapped a RING of smoke is forced out of the device and travels across the room. You can see it!! It will travel towards
you and once it reaches you... you will FEEL IT! It's VERY COOL and is one of the most talked about portions of the
assembly.
I KNOW YOUR CONCERN!!! What about Smoke Detectors? What about Fire Alarms? What about children with
breathing issues? ANSWER: To date we have never set off a Smoke Detector or Fire Alarm. There simply is
not enough smoke in the room. HOWEVER - WE CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL NOT! In the past if the
concern was too great, the school either put the Fire Alarm System into stand by for 2 minutes OR we worked
another routine into the assembly.
Regarding children with breathing issues. The formula used is rated for human consumption by the FDA and is safe
to breathe. However, being sensitive to parental concern, if we are notified as to the location of a particular child (or
children) we will effort to ensure that the rings are not blown in their general direction.
NOTE: The SMOKE RINGS are used as a treat to reward good behavior during the assembly. It can be removed
should the schools concerns be to great. WE DON'T LIKE TO TO THAT HOWEVER BECAUSE ITS A WHOLE LOT
OF FUN!! - Let us know.
2. SOAP SUDS GENERATOR - This is a little device that "Rains" down small flakes of soap suds (think of
the suds in your sink when washing dishes) and is used in the core of the program during the CITIZENSHIP portion of
the program.
I KNOW YOUR CONCERN!!! What about our expensive GYM FLOOR??? What about the kids' clothes? What if
someone gets it into their mouths? ANSWER: Do not worry. The formula used is rated for human consumption
by the FDA. It is also a (Rapid Evaporative Formula) which means the body heat from the children causes it to
evaporate quickly. It is also formulated to where it will not harm your GYM floor. In fact when evaporated you
will never know it was there.
3. TOILET PAPER LAUNCHER - This is simply a device that will unroll toilet paper over the kids' heads.
I KNOW YOUR CONCERN!!! Who is going to clean all of that paper up?? ANSWER: THE KIDS! There are
CITIZENSHIP tools built into the show. As part of showing RESPECT to the school and to the custodial staff,
the kids are taught that GOOD CITIZENS CLEAN UP MESSES! There are even recycle bins provided.
